Last updated: June 26, 2026

This Privacy Policy explains what information PinTrips (“PinTrips”, “we”, “us”) collects, how we use it, who we share it with, and the choices you have. It applies to the PinTrips mobile app and related services (the “Service”). By using PinTrips you agree to the practices described here.

1. Information we collect

Account & profile: your username and email, and any optional details you add — name, bio, home country, gender, and profile or cover photos.

Sign-in data: if you sign in with Google, we receive your name, email, Google profile photo, and Google account ID from Google. If you sign in with email, we store your email and a securely hashed password through our authentication provider.

Content you create: the video links you pin and the locations detected for them, your collections and AI-generated itineraries, comments, likes, follows, and the direct messages and attachments (photos, files, and voice notes) you send.

Device & usage data: device model and operating system, app version, language, an approximate location derived from your IP address, a push-notification token, and basic diagnostic and activity data needed to run and improve the Service.

Location: with your permission, your device’s precise location is used to show places near you on the Nearby screen. This live location is used on your device and is not stored on our servers. (The locations attached to your pins are content you choose to save.)

Subscriptions: if you subscribe to PinTrips Plus, we receive your subscription status and purchase identifiers from the app stores and our payments provider. We never receive your full payment-card details.

2. How we use your information

To create and operate your account; to show your pins on the map, build collections, and generate itineraries; to power the social features you choose to use (followers, comments, messages, sharing); to send notifications you have enabled; to process subscriptions; to keep the Service secure and prevent abuse; to provide support; and to understand and improve how the Service is used.

3. AI-powered features

To detect where a video was filmed, we send that video’s title, caption, and thumbnail image to Google’s Gemini AI service, along with map look-ups to Google Places and Geocoding. To build an itinerary, we send the place names and coordinates from your chosen collection to Gemini. This data is used only to provide these features — it is not used for advertising.

4. How we share information

With other users, according to your settings — a public profile and its content are visible to others, while a private account is limited to approved followers.

With service providers that help us run the app, under agreements that limit their use of your data: Supabase (database, authentication, file storage); Google (Google Sign-In, Maps, Places and Geocoding, Gemini AI, and Firebase Cloud Messaging for push notifications); Mapbox (maps); Expo (app delivery and notifications); and RevenueCat together with the Apple App Store and Google Play (subscriptions).

With travel partners: when you tap a “tours”, “hotels”, or “eSIM” link, it opens that partner’s website (such as GetYourGuide, Booking.com, or Airalo) in your browser. Those partners apply their own privacy policies and may set their own cookies, and we may earn a commission.

For legal and safety reasons, where required by law or to protect the Service and its users.

We do not sell your personal information.

5. International transfers

PinTrips relies on providers that may store and process data in the United States, the European Union, and other countries. Where required by law, we rely on appropriate safeguards (such as the European Commission’s Standard Contractual Clauses) for these transfers.

6. Storage, retention & security

Your data is stored with our infrastructure providers and protected with access controls and encryption in transit. We keep your information for as long as your account is active or as needed to provide the Service, and then delete or anonymise it, subject to limited retention required by law or for legitimate operational reasons. No system is perfectly secure, but we take reasonable measures to protect your information.

7. Your choices & rights

In the app you can edit your profile, change your privacy setting, manage notifications, mute, restrict, or block other users, and clear your activity. Depending on where you live (for example under the EU/UK GDPR or California’s CCPA), you may have rights to access, correct, delete, port, or object to the processing of your personal data, and to withdraw consent. To exercise these rights, use the in-app controls or contact us at [email protected]. You also have the right to lodge a complaint with your local data protection authority (in Romania, the ANSPDCP).

8. Deleting your account

You can delete your account at any time from Settings → Account center. This permanently removes your profile and associated content from the Service, subject to limited retention where required by law or for legitimate operational reasons.

9. Children

PinTrips is not directed to children under 13 (or the minimum age required in your country). We do not knowingly collect personal information from children below that age. If you believe a child has provided us personal information, contact us and we will remove it.

10. Changes to this policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. If we make material changes we will notify you in the app. The “last updated” date above reflects the latest version.
